Women’s OB/GYN Medical Group’s experienced Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) offer expertise and tender care guidance to women during their childbearing years. Our CNMs are specially trained in providing healthcare to pregnant women from conception through labor and delivery. Many women opt to have a CNM serve as their primary healthcare providers during pregnancy. Maximizing the birth experience and the health of newborns and their mothers is our practice’s primary goal for pregnant patients. Achieving this goal requires expert knowledge about the gestation period and birthing process, as well as heightened empathy between providers and their patients.

Routine Gynecologic Checkups:

Women’s OB/GYN Medical Group strives to provide Sonoma County women with comprehensive gynecologic and obstetric care in a comfortable environment close to home. Routine visits in which your physician can exam, treat, and plan for future well being are essential to your long-term health. At a general check-up, your physician can answer any questions and identify issues you may have with your reproductive system before they become difficult to correct.

We strongly recommend that women be seen for routine gynecologic screenings annually unless otherwise indicated by your general practitioner. Check with your insurance provider to see if annual visits are covered, and discuss your gynecologic health with your general practitioner to hear what he or she recommends.

Incontinence Solutions:

Most incontinence problems occur when the pelvic floor is not functioning properly. The pelvic floor, also know as the pelvic diaphragm, is the set of muscles responsible for maintaining the right amount of pressure in the abdomen, as well as supporting pelvic organs. Some factors that may increase the risk of incontinence include pregnancy, vaginal delivery, trauma, surgery, and radiation, among others.

Women’s OB / GYN Medical Group providers understand the anxiety and social impairment that results from incontinence. We offer expertise in determining the underlying causes of incontinence and finding the best treatment for each individual to help women find relief from this crippling condition.

Menopause Care:

Menopause marks the stage of a woman’s life when her body has transitioned from regularly producing estrogen and progesterone in the ovaries to its post-menopausal state. This process occurs naturally in women typically between the ages of 40 and 60, but there are natural causes and voluntary procedures that can induce menopause before the age of 40 (premature menopause). Symptoms of menopause include hot flashes, irregular periods, sleep difficulties, night sweats, mood swings and irritability as your body adjusts to new hormone levels.

Our physicians and nurses carry decades of experience providing professional, compassionate treatment and advice to women going through menopause, and it brings our practice great satisfaction to help ease the emotional and physical discomfort that comes with it.

Laser Hair Reduction and Skin Care:

Traditional methods for removing hair like shaving, tweezing, and waxing can be very cumbersome and time consuming for women. Laser hair reduction offers a safe and very effective medical procedure performed commonly in the U.S. to permanently terminate hair growth from unwanted areas. The procedure is extremely precise and takes only a few minutes to remove hair from small areas, such as the upper lip or chin, and about an hour to treat larger areas, such as the back or legs. The procedure works by exposing hair follicles to highly concentrating light pulses, prohibiting them from growing hair after exposure. Laser hair reduction may require 3-5 sessions for best outcomes, and when performed properly, the procedure successfully terminates hair growth from treated areas in approximately 90% of women.

While laser hair reduction is fast and easy for patients, it is still a medical procedure that requires an experienced physician and/or laser reduction nurse to ensure it is performed safely and effectively. Our physicians and laser reduction nurses carry years of experience in performing laser hair reduction and they take care to attend to any discomfort or bad reactions patients may have to the procedure.
